Phu Quoc has two seasons. Dry season is long, sunny, and busy. Rain season is green, quiet, and cheaper. Neither is bad. It depends on what you want.
Dry season (November to April)
Clear skies, calm sea, low humidity. The peak window is mid-December to early March, when European, Australian and Korean travelers all arrive at once.
- December and January: busiest. Book transfers and boat tours early.
- February: still busy but slightly calmer after Tet.
- March and April: bright, warm, great water. A very good window overall.
Transitional months
- May: warm, occasional short rain, still mostly dry. Good prices.
- October: the sea calms down and the first sunny windows return. Budget-friendly.
Rain season (June to September)
Green, humid, and quieter. Rain usually comes in short afternoon bursts, not all day. Mornings are often perfectly fine for activities.
- June and September: very manageable. Cheaper hotels, fewer crowds.
- July and August: some day-long rain is possible. Still plenty of sun in between.
