Phu Quoc is bigger than most first visitors expect. Three days is enough for a relaxed trip that covers the best of the island without rushing.
This plan is what I most often suggest when a guest messages me and says they have three days. It is flexible, it suits couples and families, and every step can be adjusted.
Day 1. Arrive and settle in
Most flights land at Phu Quoc International Airport in the late morning or early afternoon. When you book a private transfer with me, I wait at the arrival gate holding a sign with your name, so you do not need to look for a taxi or a driver.
Afternoon is for resting by the pool, a short walk on the beach, and a simple dinner near your hotel. If you are staying at Long Beach or Ong Lang, there are plenty of relaxed seafood places within a few minutes by car.
Day 2. The 4 island boat trip
A private speedboat to four small islands south of Phu Quoc. You stop for snorkeling in clear water, eat a grilled seafood lunch on one of the islands, and are back by late afternoon.
This is a full day but a very easy one. Families with kids do it without trouble. I recommend a morning start so the sea is calm.
Day 3. Cable car and Sunset Town evening
Morning: ride the Hon Thom cable car, which is one of the longest over-sea cable cars in the world. Spend a few hours at the beach or waterpark on Hon Thom.
Evening: head to Sunset Town, walk the Kiss Bridge, and catch one of the shows (Symphony of the Sea or Kiss of the Sea). The evening is the real highlight here, so plan dinner afterwards.
Travel tips
- Bring light cotton clothing and real sunscreen.
- Keep some VND cash for markets and small stalls.
- If you are travelling with young children, plan the boat day in the middle so arrival and departure days stay calm.
- If rain is forecast, the cable car and Sunset Town evening can be swapped with the boat trip.
